Biography:

Slain is India’s Answer to Progressive Rock.

We believe music should be loud enough to make you jump, smart enough to make you think, and inspiring enough to make a impact.

After winning every major national-level rock competition during it’s formative years,, most notably October Fest 07, NLS Strawberry fields ’07 (Bangalore), CBIT Carpe Diem 08 (Hyderabad), IITC Saarang 08 (Chennai), IITM Livewire 08 (Mumbai), Hornbill Rock Contest (Nagaland) and plenty others, the band gained sudden popularity and media attention: earning them headlining slots at dozens of college fests and major music events such as Rock ‘n India 09, Bangalore Habba 07, Rock Ethos ‘08 & ’09 eventually performing alongside international sensations like IRON MAIDEN, MR.BIG & MESHUGGAH on their tours of India. That’s easily some of the biggest rock concerts India has ever witnessed, and Slain was part of them!

In late 2010, with over two hundred concerts across the country to their credit and 2 stellar releases, the ‘Slain EP’ in 2008 & ‘Before Beyond’ in 2009, both met with stellar reviews from fans and ‘zines across the world, the band released their full-length debut album Here & Beyond at the unique event ‘Beyond Live’, a concept concert featuring Slain and The Concordia Choir, a group of Bangalore’s finest young singers. This was the first time in India a metal band was accompanied by a complete classical choir- and indeed, it was a roaring success with a packed auditorium of 400 raving fans, covered by various local and national newspapers, supported by Radio Indigo FM and immediately aired on TV9.

Apart from Slain as a whole attracting countless laurels: each of the 6 individuals has gradually become a key figure in the music community and won several awards for their outstanding proficiency, most recently the Best Guitarist & Bassist at the 2010 Rollingstone Metal Awards, and Best Guitarist & Keyboarist at the 2010 JD Rock Awards. A star line-up of experienced musicians with diverse musical interests using top of the line equipment; this is precisely what gives Slain its soothing shifting flavour. Slain’s popular anthem ‘More than Conquerors’ was also nominated as ‘Song of the Year’ at the JD Rock Awards 2010. The media have always been kind to Slain: with featured articles in acclaimed Indian Music magazines Rollingstone (Mumbai), Score (Chennai), RSJ (Rock street journal, Allahabad), and also in countless mainstream newspapers and websites. They’ve been invited for interviews and in-studio performances aired on television by News9 and on radio by Radio Indigo & Radio One(Bangalore). Metal Hammer UK, the largest selling metal music magazine in UK, in it’s May 2010 issue recognized Slain as one of the top 10 bands in India!

Having found an impeccable balance between melody and energy, a sound that retains the class of Classic rock, while being driven by the virtuosic musicianship heard exclusively in Progressive Metal: Slain is often compared to the likes of Dream Theater, Symphony X & Angra. It’s original, yet reminiscent, fresh yet memorable in every sense. Slain’s success in the industry is a reflection of the band’s pledge to perfection, in studio and on stage.

Energetic beautiful music that moves the masses; one stroke at a time, Slain is painting the future of Indian Rock!
